rose squares

I just saw this square over at craftblog/wardi. Maybe someting similar to that one would do for an Ana Pascal-throw from Stranger than Fiction? Ok, who am I kidding, there will be no time for such things in the near future, I'm a law student now and I already have loads of crocheting to do. Besides I could never afford that much yarn.
square
I got Jan Eaton's 200 crochet blocks at the library and today I tried number 58. It turned out bigger than I expected, more than 20 cm - but bigger is better, right? Oh the joy of crocheting crazy things in bright colours without having to wear them or keep them in my home :)

Now I better go back to reading or packing up my things. Or maybe I should go to Elias' place and help him out with the sushi?

Stranger than Fiction

A rather discouraging pile on my floor. The introduction to 4½ years of law studies starts tomorrow. More dismay than excitedness in my stomach at the moment. Good news: second-hand textbooks are less expensive (though I wouldn't call them cheap). Bad news: this isn't all of them (even more to buy, even more to read).
juridik
Good news: My statute book is light, cheap and green instead of heavy, expensive bourgeouis blue and gold. It almost looks like I'm going to study botany. Maybe that would be more exciting? Or not... (I would surely be a lousy botany student).
svensk lag
I saw Stranger than Fiction tonight while winding up skeins of yarn. Now the yarn is in balls instead, taking less space and making less trouble. It was a nice movie, I can recommend it. It was probably the closest I will come to reading fiction for quite a while. Don't worry about me though, I have my pretty botanical statute book :)
stranger than fiction
Look at that gorgeous crocheted throw on the sofa! Black granny-like squares with pink roses and green leaves. Maybe I should try to squeeze blanket crocheting in between classes, studying, training, street art, moving, socializing, eating and sleeping (will there be any time for sleep?). A throw like that would probably turn my new place into home. Cause right now moving on Friday feels confusing and a wee bit scary (but not compared to my new green best friend).

look

tjuv
A sneaky thief close to where I live(d).
individualist
Den eviga individualisten, jag kan själv (Individualist forever, I can do it myself), Bohusgatan
tjej
I love these girls! Who is making them?
nej
The biggest mystery: At Stadsteatern (Stockholm city theatre), in the bathroom, a tiny "Nej" (Swedish for no) embroidered on some sort of wooden plate on the wall.

This morning I'm looking at this and listening to this.

ladylike patina

At the moment everything I touch seems to be bright, happy and vividly colourful.
nagellack
Pinkish red nail polish at its best: unevenly applied and scraped off.

today is a good day

Because no dear friends left Sweden. And because it was nice.
smoothie
Started off with a four hours breakfast at Maria's place. This delicious raspberry smoothie was the first part of it. We got some crochet, embroidery, knitting and planning done. And lots of talking, listening to music and laughing. And some coffee drinking and occasional eating. Breakfast together is like fika but even better, and much lazier (which is definitely a good thing the day before registration at law studies). Will try to do it more often...
earrings by Maria
And look what Maria gave me! She made them the same day that she learnt to crochet. How amazing is that?! So adorable, can't wait to wear them. Unfortunately I'll have to do just that. My ears are still tingling from getting pierced today. The sensation is kind of weird, but it can't be regret since these cuties are waiting for me :)

Maria and I swapped books, now she has The Happy Hooker and I have Stitch'n Bitch. I'm going to take up that knitting again. Ok, so I won't be making earrings the first day, but one day I will (or at least crochet them, since I'm not lacking holes anymore). And who doesn't need large quantities of knitted swatches in crazy acrylic colours?

Today also involved seeing Paprika and riding my bike a lot (which is kind of scary in central Stockholm, mostly because of aggresive fellow cyclists - *plingplingpling* "Håll undan!!!" - but also because of wearing a way too short dress)

SPC: gold framed

The third photo of me in two days. The second in a bathroom at a café. It's becoming a bad habit - people are waiting outside. Is this narcissism?
SPC guldspegel
This one is from Bönor & Bakat. Carina and I were there for fika, some legal prophecies and gossip. I really like these kind of gold frames (wonder if there are any cheap but still nice looking fake ones?). Also like the triple reflection and the fact that the camera isn't in the photo.

SPC: turquoise squares

It's been a while since I participated in self-portrait challenge. August theme is pattern, which is a good one so I should make an effort. This is for the third week (the last day of it, yay for me...).
SPC pattern
I took this Friday night, in the bathroom at the café where we saw Molly for the last time for a while. It was all turquoise, quite nice. The reflection is in the paper towel thingie, you can see the mirror on the back wall.

kommer sakna Molly

m o l
This is one of my best friends and me at a café Friday night. Didn't know we looked so alike (maybe it's just the light and the angle, but there is something curious about the lines and proportions). She left for St Andrews, Scotland, today. Four fucking years. Why can't important people just stay close? (at least I have someone to visit when I start itching because of staying too long at the same place...)

I will miss you, Molly!

wow

We had a grand time in Gothenburg and at the Way out west festival last weekend. Some key words for our five great days: music, party, craziness, queues, rain, mud, lasagna, breakfast, rosé, ping-pong, yarn, laughter, baths, shoes, public transportation, taxis, caffein abstinence, Italian, ice breaking and speedy driving.
wow
Some of the best concerts: Regina Spektor (the most charming), Erykah Badu (some sort of goddess?), Manu Chao (best dancing), Teddybears Sthlm (best rave), Mapei (coolest craziest), Salem al Fakir (cutie, unfortunately the audience was a bit dull and wet), The Hives (rocked), CocoRosie (magical music experience). And then there were all the others...

trevlighet och otrevlighet

- Ser du? Jag kan inte vara otrevlig!
- Jag kan inte vara trevlig mot folk som rör andra på gatan utan tillåtelse.

När ska hon lära sig?

way out west

I'm going Way Out West today. Will be back sometime on Monday I hope...

Looking forward to lots of great concerts (Regina Spektor, The Hives, Salem al Fakir, Erykah Badu, Cocorosie...), seeing a bit of Gothenburg (it's supposed to be Sveriges framsida but I'm quite sure it's not compared to Stockholm - but it can still be nice and beautiful and I haven't been there much so I'm excited), partying, bathing, laughing, talking... And a six hours road trip with four Italians (and then back again, but then there will at least be another Swede). Wow, how did I end up in Elias' car? The next few days will be crazy fun... :)

kräftskiva

Maybe kräftskiva (stupid translation: crayfish party) doesn't mean anything unless you're Swedish? But at the end of last night the master crayfish eaters were the English and the Italians.
kräfta
I think they are quite gross creatures. But after cooking they turn deliciously red.
Micaelas havrebaguetter
Micaela's beautiful oat bread. I want to be a bread-baking person (light cakes and muffins aren't good for me). Alas I don't have it in me, at least not in my hands - dough is so sticky!
paj
The rests of my tasty pie (chèvre, zuchini, spinach, olives and walnuts).

We had a really nice time. It was worth all the baking, cooking and cleaning. And now my washing up karma is definitely restored.

By the way my knee is doing quite fine, thank you (though I think it received a few not so gentle bumps last night, I don't remember how and when but I can feel now what I didn't feel then). The graze is healing. Can't decide whether it's gross or beautiful (skräckblandad förtjusning).
healing
Sorry if I'm being morbid (I always found hurting and healing fascinating). Hopefully this is the last wound photo - the next one will be of a scar :)

8 things

I was tagged by dandelion to tell eight random facts about me. Here we go...
(Rules: 1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts. 2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves. 3. People who are tagged write their own blog post about their eight things and include these rules. 4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and that they should read your blog.)
kaffekaffe
#1 I drink way too much coffee. Not long ago I didn't even like it, and I promised myself to never be addicted to caffeine. Then I found out how delicious a good cup of coffee can be. Then I started university studies and found out that it helps focusing during long hours of intense reading and that it keeps me awake for nocturnal studies. Now coffee is my drug of preference.
#2 I don't watch TV very much. I prefer listening to the radio (or podcasts) and using my eyes for other (crafty) things.
#3 All sorts of bugs, insects and spiders freak me out . Even though most of them don't even bite, and none of them are dangerous to me, they're all creepy (
except for ladybugs and butterflies).
#4 At the age of 21 I still don't have my driving licence. I am learning how to drive, sort of, but not really. Sometimes I'm motivated, but most of the time I'm not. Cars are scary, loud, expensive and very unkind to the environment. Also I'm afraid that I'm too dumb, clumsy and nervous to learn to drive properly. But walking, biking (unless I
fall) and taking the bus, metro and train is just fine with me so at the moment it's not really a problem.
virkerier
#5 I crochet at least an hour a day (in average - sometimes much more and sometimes less or not at all). I could have made several blankets or a huge amount of socks, scarves, mittens and sweaters by now. But I can't show a single stitch here (though you might see them hanging around elsewhere) - this is a rare exception.
#6 I lived in France for a year and went to a French high school. It was the worst thing I've ever been through, and maybe the best thing too. I sort of speak French, and I love and hate French people. Now I miss France and my French (host) family and some other people over there and I try to go there as often as I can.
#7 I'm starting law studies in less than a month now. Don't even know if that's what I want to do (but I don't really know what else to do either).
väggen
#8 I redid my room in June. Now it's white, turquoise and red. And almost finished. It was a lot of work in vain.

That's it I guess (it was kind of hard). Now let's see... I tag:
Bekka, Carina, Hanna, Hilde, Ingen Tv, Kajsa, Maria and Maria. And whoever else feeling like talking about themselves.
