welcome home

To me, after my little trip to Gotska Sandön (a small sandy island in the Baltic Sea) during this weekend.
Gotska Sandön

Adventures:
1. The boat trip. Small boat, big waves. That was the first time I've seen people being greenish.
2. Getting lost in the forest (mum claims that we weren't lost, but we were, trust me)
3. Using the toilet (not WC...)

But it was a nice trip. I had almost forgotten how delightful the sea is.

hemkommen fingerprint deco

And welcome home fingerprints deco. I made it in June 04, and now, after more than two years, it finally came back home. With five little pieces of art in it (I'd like to show you, but I do respect copyright). It has been to Sweden, Belgium and Finland. I love mail art when it actually does work. Now I want to make more decos. I'll have to check my yahoo groups, hopefully there are some sign ups for swaps open. I hope there'll be some nice themes.

Do you want to swap a deco with me?

home sweet home?

I can hardly believe that I was actually there. But I was, and now I'm home. It's kind of nice having hot showers and no ants in the kitchen. But I really miss it: Colombia, Barichara, the people, the beauty, CISV...

This is me at the mirador, one of the first evenings in Barichara.

in Colombia

In a few hours I'll be flying to Madrid, then to Bogotá (15 hours - will I survive?). Then I'll meet lots of interesting and nice persons. Together we are going to Barichara, a small town in the mountains. We'll learn a lot about "How culture is expressed through handicraft" all over the world, and we'll meet and work with artisans in Barichara. I hope that I'll learn some Spanish too, and a lot about Colombia and South America. And maybe it will be nice and warm (not too hot I hope), so I can get rid of my ugly Tallinn tan ("bonnbränna"). It will surely be something to remember.

I'll be back July 25. Maybe I'll have something to tell then.

home from Estonia

Tallinngamlastan
A crappy photo of the old town. It was really cute, but it seemed kind of unreal to me.

tiramisu
Yes, I'm ugly and sun burnt. But this tiramisu was delicious, and I really liked the cocoa spoon and fork marks.

Tallinnsmide
I love forging, even when in Tallinn and not in Paris.

Tallinnfasad
A nice facade somewhere in Tallinn.

masseffekt
On the big arena. Thousands of kids (they wore supercute caps!), the lines were so straight (not ours, but I guess it's harder when you're supposed to handle three balls as well). All of it was kind of ridiculous, and creepy. It wouldn't have been 50 years ago though.

Tallinnchoklad
We found Swedish milk chocolate in the supermarket!

This is what the almost three day Tallinn trip with idla felt like. Fast glimpses of a mix of everything. Mostly I was exhausted (from all the training, the nervousness, the stage fright, the sun and the lack of sleep).

And guess what? On Thursday I'm going to Colombia. It's my first time ever outside Europe (the Canary Islands doesn't really count). Three weeks on an IPP (International People's Project) with CISV. Our theme is How culture is expressed through handicraft, we'll work with artisans in a small town called Barichara. Wow! Lina in Colombia... I can't believe it. I'm so excited. And nervous.

70's crochet book

virkbok

I received a gift from our neighbour and friend Anne a few days ago. Just like that - no special reason. I opened it and found this lovely seventies crochet book. The title, Roligt att virka, means Fun to crochet. I believe that the author is quite well-known. Anne told me that she liked her knitting books, then she found this at a second-hand bookshop. She knows that I love to crochet, so she bought it for me. Tusen tack, so kind of her!

virkhuva

There are lots of fun projects and pictures in it (and some interesting techniques that I'd love to try out). My favourite is this crazy kind of hood thingy (it's stated that it's intended for winter sport on cold winter days), made from left over yarns. I laughed out loud when I first saw it. It makes me think of terrorists or robbers. But nice and cozy terrorists, possibly even pacific ones :)
