off to Estonia

fria skor

I saw these on my way home today. They made me smile, hanging on that line (maybe electric or phone?) between the houses. I should have posted a better photo, but there's no time for that.

Will I have any time to sleep at all? My suitcase is done (I hope I haven't forgotten any suits or tights) but I still have to wash my hair. I hope I'll get at least a little time to see some of Tallinn. I believe it's a beautiful city. And there's lots of handicraft, lovely mittens and linen.

Open Yours Too postcard from Kristi

postcard from Kristi

This is just adorable. I think it looks kind of cosy, with the embroidery, the pretty fabrics and the cute images. Thanks a lot Kristi!

deco page

monochromatic entry

This is my page in Sari's Monochromatic Deco (the lace was already there). Based on the same idea as one of my Open yours too postcards. I really like that bird. I think I'll use it more in my art.

This deco was very neat, one of the best I've seen. Very creative construction!

konstruktion

It's difficult to show on a photo, and I don't think I can explain. But it's not a regular booklet, you can fold it out and have it displayed standing - so that all pages can be seen at the same time. I must try that out!

postcard arrived

I've received my first postcard from Open Yours Too trade 07. It's from Amanda. Thanks a lot, so cute!

orange promenade

I went out searching for oranges. Right now there's much more green and blue, but I found some photos.

volvo

An old orange Volvo. Nostalgia: we had a white one when I was a kid.

When I got home the aquarium caught my eyes. I rarely look at the fish (it's mostly dad and little sister Ellen who show any interest in them). We do have some orange fish. But they didn't like the flash, so it was hard to get any good shots.

ice mosaic

This feels very distant right now. Ice and winter on Midsummer Eve.

snöflingor i trädet, jan 06

Another winter shot. But these snowflakes aren't real. Littlesister Frida and I put them there. We should make some flowers and hang them in the same tree, now that it's summer. But when will we have time for that?

tulipaner

Found these beautiful tulips (also from the winter!) when I was looking through my old photos. I really should take some new photos instead!

svenska sommarnätter

Jag älskar dem. Men jag föredrar att avnjuta dem ensam, eller med en vän. Inte med 31åriga australienare. Blä! Lämna mig ifred!!!

green wednesday

green

Andrea is doing another colour week. And though I've missed two days, I think I'll join in. It's so inspiring with a colour each day. It pushes me to see all the beauty surrounding me, and to take photos of it.

There's a lot of idla in my life right now. Trainings and meetings. We're going to Estonia (from where idla originates) in two weeks. That might be fun. Still, I'm not very happy about hard training when it's so hot.

This photo was taken in May. I'm the one in the middle :)

button bracelet

I made this bracelet to match the buttons on my graduation dress (the ribbon used to be yellow). I love to go through mum's buttons - she has lots of them! Once I had chosen my buttons it was really easy to string them onto a ribbon.

open yours too postcards

open yours too trade 07 postcard

I've known about Open Yours Too for quite a while. It's such a lovely idea. And finally I signed up myself. I'm participating in trade 07, which is all about postcards. I've made three of them. Today I'm going to post one of them. And "loose" the other two (in a public space, addressed and with postage). Hopefully someone will find and post them.

I'm really excited about this. I haven't participated in a mail art project this special before. But I'm kind of anxious for the cards that I will "loose". Will they ever make it to my secret partner? At least I have taken photos of them, so they won't be completely lost.

postcard 1

This is the first one I made. I've had this idea for my page in a monochromatic deco, but now I used it for this card instead (but maybe I'll use it in the deco as well). The background is watercolours and rubberstamps. I discovered that you can get a nice effect with stamps without using any ink. The bird is cut out from a vintage note sheet (probably from the 60's, it used to be my dad's) - but there's no notes as this is the front of it.

postcard 2

This is the second. Last Christmas I crocheted some snowflakes, and now I finally got to use some of them. Once again the bird is vintage notes, and the background watercolour.

postcard 3

This is the third. Watercolour and notes, and a vintage button and some fabric. I'm not completely happy with this one. I put too much glue on the fabric (should have sewn it in place, but I didn't want any stitches to show). May I blame the heat, and that I had been training idla for two hours in more than 30° C?

I ended up using a bird in all three of them. It's a symbol meaning a lot to me right now. Freedom, flying away somewhere to create my own life (after graduating and turning 20 - now I'm an adult, right?).

When I showed those to my sisters, they immediately thought that there were one card for each of us. Frida is green, Ellen is blue and I'm red.

brown tuesday

bruna

Didn't take any good brown photos today. This one is from February, when Anna-Maria and I were watching the birds in Strömmen (water in central Stockholm).I like its pose, it looks nosy I think.

white

student
För jag har tagit studenten, för jag har tagit studenten, för jag har tagit studenten. Fy fan vad jag är bra!

What could be better than graduation photos for white? (Monday is white in photo colour week with neutrals) In Sweden there's a tradition of dressing in white when graduating (oh, and we party a lot too, but I won't show you any pictures of that). And everyone wear the white studentmössa - student cap. I wasn't wearing white though, but pale yellow. I really like that dress, found it at my favourite second hand store. I must find another occasion to wear it soon!

I'll try to post a new photo every day this week. Hopefully the others will be less egocentric ...

breakfast

The June self-portrait challenge is pop art. I like the idea of turning everyday objects into art. So this is me, eating my breakfast (which is the most everyday situation I can think of, almost like a ritual - I'm eating pretty much the same thing every single day). That milk package is really classical to me, and to most Swedes I suppose. The Arla cow has been around for a very long time, longer than me (20).

wristwarmer

pulsvärmare

Finished it this morning. I know, it's not the right season for wristwarmers (still I use mine even in summer), but I wanted to replace the one that I lost last month. It's stupid, I keep loosing them. But I like crocheting new ones, so it's not really a problem :)

nemo saltat sobrius, nisi forte insanit

moi

This is me last Saturday. I spent most of the day on the train (and the rest in Östersund, visiting my little sister Frida).

This is the last self-portrait challenge introduction. I really don't have anything to say. I'm feeling like I did when I took that photo. Bored and tired. I really shouldn't be. In a week I'm graduating from high school (after four long years) and it's almost summer. My life is about to start. Right now that scares me.

Now I'm off to train idla. I hope that I'll feel less gloomy when I return. I will think about something really interesting to tell you about Lina (that's me, sort of).

tittut

I'm back. And I didn't find anything interesting about Lina. Instead, I came to the conclusion that Lina isn't a very interesting person. She's shy and offish. Mostly silent and calm. To those who doesn't know her she seems to believe that nemo saltat sobrius, nisi forte insanit (nobody dances sober unless he's insane - she really likes latin). Ceci n'est pas vrai. I'm not like that, not really, not always. Still, I'm Lina, and I guess that I'll always be.
